Short Answer

1. Theo goes to see Judge Gantry because he wants to bring his class into the courtroom to watch a trial on a field trip to the courthouse the next day. Theo asks for 17 seats for his class, and the judge agrees. (Chapter 1)

2. Mr. Boone met with Judge Gantry to relay his worry that Theo will skip school to watch the trial the next day after the field trip. Theo knows this because his father forewarns him that he (Mr. Boone) already spoke with the judge. (Chapter 3)
